The bridge that connects the main house to the addition is for the father--who is in a wheel chair. He can use it to drop in on his son and help to keep him on task. The main house (designed by Rem Koolhaas) is characterized by three horizontal masses. To personalize the son's addition it is oriented with a strong emphasis on verticality.
